This whisky will be released later this Fall. I was sent a pre-release sample to review. This one is a good one!
93 Canadian Club, 30 year old, 40%, $150-$199
Bottled to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Canadian Club whisky. An amazingly fresh and vibrant whisky giving its age and delicateness. I feared that, given how light […]

A package showed up unexpectedly at the Malt Advocate office today from Beam Global. It turns out to be a sample of a 30 year old Canadian Club which will be released later this year. As far as I know, this is the oldest Canadian whisky ever released.
The purpose of this special release is to […]

It’s time to take a brief break from all the Speyside whisky I’ve been writing about. The pioneering Canadian distiller, John Hall, at Kittling Ridge, will be releasing a new whisky this September called Forty Creek John K. Hall Double Barrel Reserve. I could tell you about it, but let’s get it straight from John:

For those of you who missed the show’s debut on St. Patrick’s Day, you get another chance to watch it on Saturday, April 26th, at 7:00 p.m. It’s a really nice show covering Scotch, Irish, Canadian, Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey. They even cover the craft distilling movement. And yes, I’m in it too. I tell […]

I just received this press release from the Scotch Whisky Association and wanted to pass it on to everyone. This battle has been going on for quite some time.

St. Patrick’s Day is the only day I try to avoid Irish pubs. Far too crowded for me.
If you feel the same way, you might want to tune into the History Channel tonight at 8pm. The Modern Marvels series is debuting a one-hour show on whiskey (and whisky). I haven’t seen it yet, but I […]

Here’s some very valuable information you can only get here! I posted up the Annual Malt Advocate Whisky Award winners this past Tuesday, which were announced at the 10th Annual WhiskyFest New York that same night. It’s public knowledge now. But what were the whiskies that almost won? They are pretty impressive too! Well, here they […]

I’m slowly recovering from WhiskyFest New York, which Malt Advocate magazine hosted this past Tuesday night. As you probably already know, it’s my magazine (and event) so I was very busy that night. My primary goal at WhiskyFest is to make sure everyone else is happy and having a good time, but I did manage to […]

This annual awards program was established thirteen years ago to recognize excellence in the world of whisky. The awards categories […]

I knew that this was John Hall’s 15 anniversary of making Forty Creek whisky at Kittling Ridge, Ontario. Last year, when I visited John at his distillery, he told me he was working on something special for his 15th anniversary. Now we know what it is. He’s calling it Forty Creek John K. Hall Small […]
