Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie, this Friday
September 9th, 2008I’m heading into NYC for a one-on-one with Glenmorangie’s whisky wizard, Dr. Bill Lumsden this Friday. He told me he’s bringing lots of goodies to taste. I’ll get you updated over the weekend regarding all the new Glenmorangie whiskies (Signet, Astar, etc.) and Ardbeg whiskies too!

Dear John,
I’m always eager to learn about new Ardbegs. Please ask if there is any plan to restore the Ardbeg floor maltings, or add a second set of stills. Thanks.
Cheers,
Bill

Bill, I will ask him.
Does anyone have any other questions that you would like me to ask Bill on Friday? This is a rare opportunity, so let’s take advantage of it.

Ardbeg committee models for USA. Also, a second feedback re: reopening floor maltings.

Dear John,
Thanks for asking. I would have a few questions about the Glenmorangie group.
About Ardbeg:
Why have they bottled their new Blasda at 40%? Do they plan to release whiskies at 40%?
Any plan of releasing their Madeira or Rum matured Ardbeg in the short future, or young Kildalton?
Glenmorangie:
Did the new packaging had significant on the sales of Glenmorangie? Any single casks to be released?
Glen Moray: Any news about the potential buyer?
General:
Any involvement of Bill in the selection or maturation of the casks for the SMWS?
To his opinion, what would be the major changes in the whisky industry in the following years?

I would like to echo what Mark stated. As an Ardbeg committee member, it would be nice if they could arrange shipment of committee bottlings to us here in the US.

Lots of good questions guys. I’ll print them out at the end of the day and take them with me tomorrow.

Hi John,
Could you please ask if there are going to be any permanent older Ardbeg expressions in the US lineup.
Thanks.
