First Glen Moray, now Glendronach

July 13th, 2008

The cat’s out of the bag. Only a week or two after Glenmorangie plc announced plans to unload the Glen Moray distillery, Pernod has confirmed that it is selling Glendronach.

I was told by a very reputable inside source back in April that Glendronach was about to be sold when I was touring Speyside, but I vowed to keep my mouth shut until its owner went public with it.

I think there’s a lot of potential with the distillery. There have been some great bottlings, including a delicious 33 year old released a couple years back and an amazing 19 year old (for the U.S. market) back in the 1990s.

Lets hope the new owners of both these distilleries show us what kind of great whiskies they can produce.

Who bought Glendronach? For that matter, who bought Glen Moray?

The owners of each distillery have confirmed they are selling their distillery. However, there has been no announcement that either has been sold. Stay tuned.

    Hi John,
The whisky droving of LVMH has me asking a few questions that I am sure have been on the minds of other Malt Advocates.
More money and attention to Ardbeg and Glenmorangie is appreciated and applauded, but there are others in the portfolio.
What happens to the “Dram” ie the liqueor Drambuie and more importantly to me the fantastic blend Rachel Barrie got me hooked on when we met at Whisky Fest Chicago a few years back.
I am talking about Bailie Nicol Jarvie.
If anyone knows or can find out I know its you.
Any info as always will be appreciated.

These are the rumors. I have not seen confirmation, have you?

Miike, I like the BNJ blend too! AFAIK, it is still being produced but, alas, not imported in the U.S. I have not heard of its being taken off the market.
